The District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) were conceptualized under the National Policy on Education of 1986 (revised in 1992) and established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Their purpose was to strengthen elementary education and facilitate the decentralization of education to the district level as part of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Teacher Education.
DIETs serve as key agencies providing academic and resource support at the district and grassroots levels to ensure the effective implementation of strategies and programs in elementary education.
DIET Khordha envisions developing and promoting a responsive and relevant teaching–learning system for Elementary education and contributing to excellence in teaching and learning as an innovative and resourceful center with committed and professional staff through reflective research-based practice and ICT integration.
The District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Khordha, always strives to maintain the highest quality in academic standards in teacher education and provides the most enabling environment for the holistic growth and development of student-teachers and working teachers. We are also committed to instilling the core values of respect, integrity, compassion for learning, collaboration, and excellence among the teachers, CRCCs, BRCCs, and students of Khordha district, enabling them to face the challenges of the 21st century.
