History of DIET, Khordha

The District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) were conceptualized under the National Policy on Education of 1986 (revised in 1992) and established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Their purpose was to strengthen elementary education and facilitate the decentralization of education to the district level as part of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Teacher Education.
DIETs serve as key agencies providing academic and resource support at the district and grassroots levels to ensure the effective implementation of strategies and programs in elementary education.
DIET Khordha, formed in 1989 by upgrading the Secondary Training School, Khordha, has since been actively involved in fostering an academic environment in the district through various educational initiatives and activities.

Vision

DIET Khordha envisions developing and promoting a responsive and relevant teaching–learning system for Elementary education and contributing to excellence in teaching and learning as an innovative and resourceful center with committed and professional staff through reflective research-based practice and ICT integration.

Mission

  • To shift the classroom process and promote critical and creative thinking among the learners of elementary school level as well as elementary teacher education level.
  • To prepare reflective teacher for elementary level to meet the need of 21st century learners.
  • To create a community of resourceful teachers, Head teachers, CRCCs and Teacher Educators and practice academic mentoring in blended approach.
  • To facilitate research on district specific issues related to teaching learning process/ students achievement for ensuring quality education.
  • To enable the development of skills of teaching and engaging latest technological devices as aids to teaching-learning process.
  • To help faculty in capacity building for academic planning, ICT integration in classroom, assessment strategies, research studies and curriculum designing.
  • To share information about resources and events related to the enhancement of teaching and learning by creating professional learning community.
  • To practice innovative strategies in elementary level classroom in order to improve the students learning.
